Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! host and ep Andy Cohen replaced Kathy Griffin as Anderson Cooper‘s CNN New Year’s Eve broadcast co-host last year, and the longtime friends went on deliver CNN its most-watched New Year’s Eve broadcast ever.
So why not bring them back again, assuming they’re both game?
It appears that they are, because CNN announced today that Cohen and Cooper will indeed host New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. The special will air Monday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ET. At 12:30 a.m. ET, Brooke Baldwin and Don Lemon will once again count down from New Orleans as the Central Time Zone rings in the New Year.
“Getting to ring in the New Year with Andy is a total joy and I can’t wait for the big night!” said Cooper.
“Who would’ve thought 25 years of friendship would lead to an almost-tradition of co-hosting New Year’s Eve on CNN!?” said Cohen, “I’m so excited to spend New Year’s with my friend again and promise not to complain about the bitter cold!”
New Year’s Eve is of course one of the most raucous nights of the year, and CNN does not hold back. At least they haven’t for the previous 10 NYR broadcasts.
Last year, AC360 correspondent Randi Kaye checked in from Denver aboard a Cannabis Tours Puff, Pass and Paint Party bus, and she was seen inhaling out of a gas mask bong.
Not something you’d necessarily expect out of a news program, but hey, it’s New Year’s Eve, so why not?

Cohen and Cooper were able to leverage their celebrity connections last year, as Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman checked in from Nashville, and Dave Chappelle and John Mayer chatted with Cohen and Cooper from L.A.
