Meta (formerly Facebook) has named Angelika Gifford as its new Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) chief, succeeding Nicola Mendelsohn who has started in her new role of vice president, Global Business Group.

Gifford, who joined the business in January 2020 as its vp for Central Europe, has previously held roles within major tech companies such as HP and Microsoft. In her previous role, she was tasked with representing the social media platform among partners, policymakers, nonprofits and communities across 34 countries, including Eastern Europe, Russia, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
