Instagram Copies Snapchat Again, This Time With Filters for Your Face

Tuesday, Instagram finally introduced augmented reality face filters for Instagram Stories, bringing the app closer than ever before to the signature capabilities of Snapchat, which popularized similar technology for a mainstream audience a couple of years ago. (Adweek)

Instagram is rolling out eight filters to start, but will likely ramp up with more soon. Of the first eight, some will no doubt look familiar to longtime Snapchat users. There are bunny ears and other animal faces, glasses (with math equations spinning overhead) and a few different variations of “crowns.” (Mashable)

After Instagram stole Snapchat’s well-liked Stories product back in August, it took less than a year for Instagram Stories users to surpass Snapchat’s entire user base. (Recode)
