CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King, who sat next to her BFF Oprah Winfrey at the Golden Globes Sunday night, is almost certain Winfrey isn’t running for president.
“I absolutely don’t think that her position has changed,” King said this morning. “I do think she’s intrigued by the idea. I also know after years of watching the Oprah show, you always have a right to change your mind.”
“Being in that room was electrifying,” King continued, saying that Oprah’s speech, given as part of her Cecile B. DeMille Lifetime Acheivement Award, was not part of a campaign kickoff.
“She wanted that moment to be more than women wearing black dresses of solidarity. She really did want to speak to young girls around the country. She really did want to say, enough already.”

“People said oh yeah, she wrote that speech as a launching pad for what she wants to do. That’s absolutely not true.” — @GayleKing pic.twitter.com/mWbDSMo7og

King was also wearing her trademark yellow dress, which she has worn on this day, Jan. 9, for the last seven years, marking the show’s anniversary. This year is different as one of the other original CTM co-anchors, Charlie Rose, is no longer with the show. We hear CBS is close to announcing a new anchor and that John Dickerson is on the very short list.
