22% of E-Books Sold in UK Are Self-Published

More than one fifth of e-books sold in the UK last year, were self-published, according to Nielsen Book UK.

At the Nielsen Book Insights Conference this week, Steve Bohme, research director at Nielsen Book UK, revealed that these self-published titles are on the rise in the e-book market. In 2014, these books made up 16 percent of the e-book market. In 2015, they represented 22 percent. The Book Seller has the scoop:

Bohme said: “All of the e-book growth in 2015 can be attributed to a rise in purchasing of Amazon/self-published titles, with purchases of e-books from mainstream publishers down slightly on 2014.”
