Emma Watson’s Feminist Book Club to Read ‘The Argonauts’

By Maryann Yin

Emma Watson HeForShe (GalleyCat)Emma Watson has named The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson as the May 2016 pick for Our Shared Shelf.

Graywolf Press published this memoir back in May 2015.

Here’s an excerpt from Watson’s announcement on Goodreads: “It might require a bit of work but The Argonauts rewards us with an expansive way of considering identity, caretaking, and freedom—along with a liberation from, what Maggie calls, ‘the demand that anyone live a life that’s all one thing.’…Maybe it will change the way we think and speak about others and ourselves?”

In the past, this feminist book club has read My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, and How To Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran. What books would you recommend to Watson for future selections?
