When Nature Attacks! Two Reporters Have Run-Ins with Insects

By Kevin Eck

Great. Now nature is getting in on the whole “Let’s-photobomb-the-reporter!” trend.

In Washington D.C. an African Moon Moth laid two eggs in the ear of WTTG reporter Bob Barnard while he was doing a live shot this morning.

Barnard was at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History when the moth crawled onto his ear. When it flew off, he found two eggs.

Saturday in Phoenix, KNXV reporter Lauren Vargas was doing a report on a swarm of bees taking over a local neighborhood when one of the bees stung her.

A local fire captain tried to help her after one landed in her hair. The bee stung her on her scalp, anyway.

Vargas told viewers later, “It did hurt at the time, but now I think it’s pretty funny.”
