NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt was busy while most TV newser were watching CNBC’s GOP debate. Holt was inducted into the California Hall of Fame on Wednesday night at the California Museum in Sacramento.
“I got the DVR set, I was thinking about that,” Holt said when asked about being up against the debate by the Sacramento Bee. “This will be all civilized here.”
Holt went on to say, “California was kind of the forefront of so many things. The whole notion of diversity. I grew up with the diversity of California.”
Holt was inducted with actor Robert Downey Jr, artist David Hockney, martial arts superstar Bruce Lee, space pioneer Ellen Ochoa, musician Buck Owens, cartoonist Charles M. Schulz and Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi.
The Nightly News anchor went to high school and college in Sacramento and his parents still live in the area. He worked at NBC affiliate KCRA as an intern while in high school. Check out all of the past inductees, including Dr. Dre and John Madden here.
