Len Vlahos, Executive Director of The Book Industry Study Group (BISG), will resign his post on June 12th.
Vlahos and his wife Kristen Gilligan have purchased Tattered Cover, a bookstore in Colorado. Vlahos and Gilligan will serve as senior management of the Tattered Cover beginning on July 1, 2015 and will acquire a controlling interest in the business on July 1, 2017. At that time owner Joyce Meskis, the current owner will retire.
“Len has been a tremendous asset to BISG during what has been an exciting yet tumultuous time in the book industry,” stated Tara Catogge of Quarto Publishing Group USA and Chair of the BISG Board. “His hard work and insight over the last few years have positioned us well as we continue to provide the industry access to best practices, standards, research and education. We are all very sad to see him go but wish him well in his move to Denver.”
